Event | Exploring Venice’s Craftsmanship: A Two-Day Event Recap

Exploring Venice

We are thrilled to share the highlights of the recent two-day event in Venice, where the charming atmosphere of the city served as a backdrop for an immersive exploration into the world of craftsmanship. Organised by the HEPHAESTUS project team. The event was a collaborative effort organized by AIKU – Arte Impresa Cultura, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and Copenhagen Business School (CBS) – Department of Business Humanities and Law.

Crafting connections: meeting Venice’s artisans

CBS’s students delved into the heart of Venice, meeting and interviewing some of its esteemed craft makers, including Atelier 23 Venice, Atelier Volante, Vanessa Milan, Lara Perbellini, and Fablab Venezia – Digital Fabrication & Social Innovation. The city’s rich cultural tapestry inspired and challenged the students, resulting in a collection of insightful materials.

Analyzing business models: unveiling artisan stories

With gathered materials in hand, students presented a detailed analysis of the business model canvas of these artisans. The culmination of their efforts was a series of short videos, capturing the essence of creative craftsmanship in an agile, interesting, and contemporary manner. The goal was not only to uncover intricate stories but also to explore the possibilities and limitations of business models, testing the potential for new, authentic narratives.

Navigating regulations: Prof. Vishv Priya Kohli’s seminar

To provide a comprehensive understanding of the industry, Prof. Vishv Priya Kohli conducted a seminar focusing on Geographical Indications and the latest regulations safeguarding handicrafts and textiles in the EU. Attendees had the opportunity to dive deeper into the legal landscape, gaining valuable insights into the protection of traditional craftsmanship.

This event was a testament to the commitment of our partners and participants to foster a deeper appreciation for craftsmanship, weaving together stories that transcend the ordinary. We extend our gratitude to everyone involved for making this event a resounding success.
