The Horizon Europe project HEPHAESTUS team, comprised of BOFA, Copenhagen Business School, and Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, organized a workshop uniting Bornholm’s craft ecosystem participants and researchers from the universities. This endeavour sought a profound grasp of challenges encountered by stakeholders within the Bornholm craft ecosystem, encompassing craft ambassadors, Bornholm’s Regional Municipality, Makers Island, craft associations, museums, The Royal Danish Academy, and various local businesses. The workshop concluded with a tour of BOFA (Bornholm’s Waste Management Entity), which showcased the island’s circular economy transition, underscored by our zero waste vision and the imminent closure of the waste incineration plant by 2032. A central focus lies in recirculating all island resources, as evident in our recycling centre sorting 40 diverse waste fractions.
