The closing event of the exhibition brought together 25-30 attendees for an inspiring exploration of the future of craftsmanship, creativity and daily life. The event kicked off with a guided tour of the “A Brave New World” exhibition. The D20 Art Lab artists themselves shared insights into the art-based research methodologies behind the thought-provoking works on display, setting the stage for a day of engaging discussion and collaboration.
A new vision of the world
A plenary session followed the tour, delving into the HEPHAESTUS project and the innovative art-based approaches that inspired the exhibition. This discussion provided a foundation for attendees to reflect on the broader implications of craftsmanship and reimagining futures.
Participants then broke into two groups, each tasked with envisioning their own “Brave New World.” One group considered how daily life, particularly work, might evolve in a world untouched by the Industrial Revolution. The other group reimagined leisure time, contemplating transformative ways vacations and relaxation could be experienced.
Hands-on creativity with artificial intelligence
The creative process took an exciting turn when participants collaborated to generate images using artificial intelligence, mimicking the techniques employed by the artists. This interactive session allowed attendees to step into the role of creators, sparking fresh ideas and perspectives about potential futures.
A space for connection and insight
The event’s relaxed atmosphere was enhanced by a delightful brunch, offering time for participants to connect and exchange ideas informally. The combination of structured activities and open dialogue created a meaningful space to discuss the role of craftsmanship in shaping future worlds.
The workshop concluded with a shared sense of inspiration, as participants left with new insights and a deeper appreciation for the power of creativity and collaboration in imagining a Brave New World.
